BuenosAires (VNA) – A ceremony marking the 129th birth anniversary of latePresident Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890) took place in Buenos Aires on May 26.
Theevent, organised by the Argentina-Vietnam Cultural Institute (Instituto deCultura Argentino Vietnamita - ICAV) and the Embassy of Vietnam in Argentina, wasattended by ICAV staff, local people and Vietnamese people living in thecountry.
Addressingthe event, ICAV President Poldi Sosa spoke highly of contributions by the lateleader to the establishment of Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now theSocialist Republic of Vietnam, as well as the country’s heroic struggle forliberation and independence.
Shevoiced her hope that the life stories of President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam’shistory will be further introduced to Argentine people, especially the youths,thereby promoting the two countries’ friendship.
In reply,Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Dang Xuan Dung said Vietnamese people alwaysbear in mind the contributions by President Ho Chi Minh and strive to implementhis testament.
TheVietnamese Embassy in the country and local authorities inaugurated a bust ofthe late President in Buenos Aires in August 2012.
The sameday, a contest on telling stories of President Ho Chi Minh was held in TheHague, the Netherlands.
Earlier,overseas Vietnamese living in the European country offered incense to the latePresident on the occasion of his birth anniversary and the 50th anniversary ofthe implementation of his will (1969).
VietnameseAmbassador to the Netherlands Ngo Thi Hoa, head of the organising board, saidthe contest aims to raise patriotism among Vietnamese people living in theEuropean country.-VNA
