Organised by the HCM City Youth Support Centre, the wedding was heldfor couples who are working in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho city, andDong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Thuan and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces.
With only a nominal contribution of 1 million VND each couple, theparticipants got full services, including flowers, make-up, cars,costumes, and photos, on the special occasion.
In addition,each couple was also presented with 2 million VND in a bank account, apair of wedding rings worth 2.8 million VND and an outdoor trip duringwhich they will be provided with skills to build a happy family.
All costs for the collective wedding, at nearly 3 billion VND, werepaid for by donations by organisations and individuals nationwide.
Theevent, which was timed for the special day of 12/12/2012 , wasrecognised as a Vietnam record of the biggest mass wedding.
Since the first was held in 2008, the HCM City Youth Support Centrehas organised collective weddings for more than 200 worker couples.
The same day, a mass wedding of 20 couples also took place in thenorthern province of Vinh Phuc. The event was organised by theprovincial committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.-VNA
