HCM City (VNA) – The Anti-drug Investigation Police Department has coordinated with the customsand border guard forces, as well as the police in Ho Chi Minh City to raid a largedrug ring trafficking drugs from Laos to Vietnam, seizing 179 bricks (over60kgs) of heroin.
They arrested sevensuspects, along with 70 million VND, 450,000 LAK (Lao kips), 850 USD, 2 carsand many other exhibits.
The ring, which hasbeen under watch over the past two months, is led by Pham Huu Hieu, 48, who is fromthe central province of Nghe An and resides in Ho Chi Minh City.
Hieu teamed up with transportersto bring drugs from Laos to Vietnam through central Quang Binh province forsale in Ho Chi Minh City.
On July 11, thesuspects were caught conducting drug trading activities. The police searched locationswhere they stored the drugs and discovered the heroin.
Currently, the police areexpanding the investigation on the case. -VNA
