Vientiane (VNA) – Laos will workout measures to help Vietnamese people who want to apply for Lao citizenshipcomplete procedures as quickly as possible and in line with the host’s legalregulations.
Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith made theassertion at a meeting with Vietnam’s Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long inVientiane on November 28.
The PM said the enhancement of bilateralcooperation between the two ministries of justice is of great importance giventhe increasing number of civil disputes, especially in the field of economics,and the development of the socialist-oriented market economy.
Vietnam has experience in building and revisinglaw while Laos has a lot of shortcomings in the field, he said, adding that hehoped the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice will increase experience sharing andassist Laos’s human resources training.
For his part, Minister Long said the legal andjudicial cooperative relations between Vietnam and Laos and particularly the justiceministries have been growing over the past 35 years thanks to regularexperience exchanges in law building and enforcement, training, andencouragement of cooperation between judicial institutions at localities.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Justice is willing tosupport Laos to build and improve the legal system as well as train humanresources, he added.
The same day, the two sides celebrated the 35thanniversary of bilateral judicial cooperation.
Lao Minister of Justice Sayxi Santivong said theVietnamese counterpart has actively supported Laos over the past few years viaproviding equipment for Lao judicial sector, sending experts to help Laos buildlegal curriculum and draft the first Constitution which took effect on August15, 1991, and revise legal documents in politics, administrative procedures,economics-culture, and society.
On the occasion, the Vietnamese and Lao Partiesand States granted Laos’ Freedom Order (Issala) and Vietnam’s IndependenceOrder to outstanding individuals and units of the two ministries -VNA
