Vientiane(VNA) – The Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee, theNational Assembly, Government, and the Lao Front for National Construction’sCentral Committee on October 2 extended condolences to the Communist Party ofVietnam (CPV) Central Committee, National Assembly, Government, and the VietnamFatherland Front Central Committee over the passing of Do Muoi, former GeneralSecretary of the CPV Central Committee.
“We highly value theachievements and great contributions of Comrade Do Muoi during the struggle fornational independence in the past, as well as in the nation-building andconstruction of the country during the 80 plus years of his revolutionarycareer,” read the message.
It also highlightedthe contributions that Do Muoi made to the reinforcement of friendship, specialsolidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States, andpeoples.
The passing away of DoMuoi is a loss of a close friend of the Party, State, and people of Laos, itadded. The Lao side also extended deep condolences to the family of Do Muoi.
Do Muoi was also a memberof the CPV Central Committee in the third to eighth tenures and member of thePolitburo for the fifth to eighth tenures. He served as the General Secretaryof the CPV Central Committee from June 1991 to December 1997.
He was born onFebruary 2, 1917, and passed away at 23:12 on October 1 at Military Hospital108 in Hanoi. –VNA
