Laos, China ink cooperation agreements

The agreements, inked by Laos’ Deputy Prime Minister and Chairmanof the Laos-China Cooperation Committee Somsavad Lengsavath and ChineseAmbassador to Laos Guan Huabing on October 30 in Vientiane , covercooperation areas of economics and technology with an aid from Chinaworth 16.4 million USD.

China is one of Laos ’ keytrading partners. In the first five months of this year, bilateral tradereached 794 million USD.

To date, China has provided loansand non-refundable aid for Laos to implement 801 projects worth 3.95billion USD, mainly in areas of hydropower, mining, agriculture andforestry.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
