Lao PM extends sympathy to Vietnam over COVID-19 outbreak

Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh said he firmly believes that under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and with the high resolve of the Government and people, Vietnam will soon contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hanoi (VNA) – Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh said he firmlybelieves that under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam(CPV) and with the high resolve of the Government and people, Vietnam will sooncontain the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a letter sent to hisVietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh, the Lao leader expressed his sympathy overthe complex developments of COVID-19 in many Vietnamese cities and provinces.

Lao leaders and people highlyvalue the drastic and timely measures adopted by Vietnam to fight the pandemic,he stressed.

On this occasion, PhankhamViphavanh thanked the Vietnamese side for its support to Laos during thepandemic combat, and affirmed that the Lao Party, Government and people arewilling to stand side by side with Vietnam, in line with the spirit of thegreat friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between thetwo countries.

Over the past days,many agencies and organisations in Laos raised funds to aid the pandemic fightin Vietnam.

Laos’ National AssemblyVice Chairperson Khambay Damlath and PTL Holding Committee Limited Strategy andPlanning Chairman Alounkeo Kittikhoun, who is also former Minister of theLao Prime Minister’ Office, on June 3 and 4 handed over 30,000 USD in total to theVietnamese Embassy in Laos to support the pandemic fight in the neighbouringcountry.

Vietnamese AmbassadorNguyen Ba Hung thanked the meaningful and timely gift from the Lao side, and notedhis belief that Vietnam will fulfil its dual goal of pandemic containmentand socio-economic development./.
