Vientiane (VNA) – Politburo member and Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang paid courtesy calls to the Lao Party and State leaders in Vientiane on December 25, part of his working visit to the neighbouring country.

Talking with the Vietnamese minister, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Choummaly Sayasone appreciated Vietnam’s enormous and effective assistance to Laos in all realms as well as the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security’s support in security and order protection.

He said he hopes the two countries’ public security ministries will intensify cooperation, especially in ensuring security and safety of major events, preventing “colour revolution”, and defeating all “peaceful evolution” and riot plots of hostile and reactionary forces.

Their joint efforts will help ensure the respective nations’ social-political stability, national security and social order and safety, and foster the special amity between Vietnam and Laos for the sake of their peoples and regional and global peace and stability, he stressed.

For his part, Minister Quang informed the host about the outcomes of his talks with officials of the Lao Ministry of Public Security.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese public security force will enhance coordination with its Lao counterpart in fighting crimes, protecting security and order, and exchanging information and experience, he said.

The minister added the two sides will also join hands to guarantee security in the countries’ shared border areas and reinforce collaboration in personnel training and professional equipment.

At another meeting the same day, Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong applauded the fruitful talks between the two public security ministries and highly valued their effective multifaceted cooperation, particularly in fighting organised, trans-national and drug crimes and personnel training.

He said he hopes the ministries’ connections will be tightened, practically serving each country’s socio-economic development and international integration.

For his part, Quang thanked the Lao Government and Prime Minister for creating favourable conditions for the two public security forces’ close partnership in crime fight, national security protection, social order and safety ensuring.-VNA
