According to an official report announced by theCambodian Government on July 8 that in the Jan-May period, the countryreported 42 landmine accidents, a 5 percent decrease compared with 44accidents recorded at the same period last year.
Inaddition, landmines injured 51 others, down 36 percent compared with 80injured people at the same period last year, it said.
The report said that from 1979 to May this year, up to 19,669 peoplewere killed by landmines and 44,592 others were injured.
Cambodia is one of the world's worst countries suffered fromlandmines. An estimated 4-6 million landmines and other munitions havebeen left over from three decades of war and internal conflicts thatended in 1998.
By 2012, the country had defused and destroyed about 3 million landmines and unexploded ordnances.-VNA
