Lam Dong (VNA) – A serious head-on collision between two passenger buses occurred in the morning of June 19 at Prenn mountain pass in Da Lat city, the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, killing at least seven and injuring dozens.
A 50-seat bus en route from Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City crushed into a road worker shortly before it finished the pass, which is being upgraded. The bus then lost control and made a head-on collision with another 50-seat bus that is heading to Da Lat from Phan Thiet city in Binh Thuan province.
Local authorities are working hard to clear the traffic and investigate the reason of the accident, while 15 injured people have been sent to Hoan My hospital where they are treated by doctors from both the hospital and Lam Dong General Hospital .
Chairman of the Lam Dong People’s Committee Doan Van Viet has visited the victims and offered them financial support.
He also asked the provincial Department of Transport to review the implementation of the work at Prenn pass to ensure safety for vehicles.
Chairman of the National Committee for Traffic Safety, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, sent a dispatch to the Ministry of Transport as well as the chairmen of Lam Dong and Binh Thuan provinces, asking for efforts to minimise loss and offer support to the victims.-VNA
