Labour Confederation, Vietnam News Agency ink cooperation deal

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) and the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) signed a cooperation agreement for 2017 – 2022 in Hanoi on June 23.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam GeneralConfederation of Labour (VGCL) and the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) signed a cooperationagreement for 2017 – 2022 in Hanoi on June 23.

Addressing the signing ceremony, VGCL PresidentBui Van Cuong said the collaboration programmes between the two sides have beenimplemented effectively, including the Vietnam Trade Union Programme on theVNA’s Vnews TV channel.

Stories on the Vnews channel and otherpublications of the VNA have reflected the living and working conditions ofVietnamese labourers, particularly those working in industrial parks, exportprocessing zones, as well as other issues like social insurance, healthinsurance, and housing, he said.

He calls on the Vietnam News Agency to buildmore programmes to meet the information demand of 10 million trade unionmembers and nearly 20 million labourers across the nation, contributing to thedevelopment of Vietnam’s Trade Union and the working class.

VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi thanked theVGCL for assisting VNA reporters.

Agreeing with the VGCL’s suggestion to increase the coverage of theorganisation’s activities on all VNA publications, he called on theconfederation to provide early and full information for public news agenciesincluding the VNA so that they can make quality press works.

On the occasion, the VGCL presented the insignia“For the cause of Trade Union” to five VNA leaders while VNA gave the insignia“For the cause of the VNA” to two VGCL leaders.

The State-owned VNA is a major news agency inSoutheast Asia with more than 1,300 reporters and editors, and a network ofrepresentative offices in all 63 cities and provinces of Vietnam and 30 inforeign countries.

Besides the five main editorial departments, itruns a TV channel - the Vnews, an online newspaper – VietnamPlus in fivelanguages-, and various publications.-VNA
