President Truong Tan Sang praised Kuwaiti Ambassador to Vietnam Hamad Saleh Al Jutaili for sparing no effort to further friendship and cooperation between the two countries at a farewell meeting in Hanoi on October 6.

The President expressed his delight at the growing collaboration across important fields such as oil and gas, trade and training.

Kuwait has become one of the leading trade partners of Vietnam in the Middle East with the implementation of many bilateral cooperation mechanisms, he said.

The country has provided Vietnam with official development assistance to develop infrastructure in remote and flood-affected areas, he noted.

The State leader assured the ambassador that Vietnam treasures and hopes to promote friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Kuwait, proposing the two countries increase all-level delegation exchanges, especially among high-ranking officials.

He recommended both nations continue to support each other at international forums. Vietnam supports Kuwait’s candidacy to the UN Security Council in the 2018-2019 tenure while Kuwait supports Vietnam’s candidacy to the 2016-2018 Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the 2020-2021 UN Security Council.

He asked the Kuwaiti side to make it easier for Vietnamese goods, especially consumer products, food and electronics, to enter the market.

Vietnam is willing to create favourable conditions for Kuwaiti businesses to invest in oil and gas and infrastructure building, he said.

For his part, the Kuwaiti Ambassador took the occasion to thank Vietnamese ministries and sectors for supporting him to carry out his working tenure in Vietnam.

He expressed his belief that cooperation between the two countries will expand, especially in investment.

He noted that Kuwait is keen to receive more Vietnamese workers and provide more scholarships for Vietnamese students, adding that the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development is willing to assist Vietnam with humanitarian projects.-VNA
