Korean, Singaporean leaders agree to expand cooperation

Seoul (VNA) – President of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Moon Jae-in and SingaporeanPrime Minister Lee Hsien Loong have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation,especially in joint efforts to prepare for the fourth industrial revolution.

According to theRoK presidential palace on November 14, the agreement came in a bilateralmeeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of the 31st ASEAN Summit andrelated meetings held in the Philippine capital city of Manila.

Moon and Leeagreed to maintain close cooperation in numerous fields, including politics,economy and civil exchange, especially in the areas of infrastructure andtrade.
At the meeting,the Korean leader voiced his hope that the bilateral cooperation will continuethriving in the fourth industrial revolution as both countries are striving toput forth industrial initiatives as a way of creating new growth engines.
For his part,Lee said that there will be more opportunities for bilateral cooperation,adding that the two countries should strengthen their collaboration within theASEAN framework.
Moon also askedSingapore and ASEAN to continue supporting the RoK for a peaceful resolution tothe nuclear issue of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea andestablishment of peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The RoKPresident on November 9 announced his “New Southern Policy”, aiming to betterconnect the country to ASEAN member nations.-VNA
