Hanoi (VNA) - The Prime Minister has asked the Central Highlandsprovince of Kon Tum to focus on synchronously launching measures to improvecapacity and quality, expand production scale, enhance agriculturalrestructuring and striving to make the province become the nation’s keypharmaceuticals region.

The PM requested the province to establish an authority of integrity, actionand serving for the people and businesses, improve the business and investmentenvironment, encourage start-up and development of enterprises, tackledifficulties and support businesses and increase the provincial competitivenessto attract more investors, the Vietnam Government Portal (VGP) reported.

He proposed enhancing the application of high-technology, facilitating thedevelopment of clean and organic agriculture, attracting more investment inagriculture and concentrating on vocational training for local people,especially the ethnic minority.

Over the past first half of 2018, the province witnessed the economic growth of7.9 percent, heading to achieve 9.25 percent for the year. 

The Government leader stressed the need to raise the value and sustainablydevelop the province’s advantageous products, focusing on promoting thepharmacy industry and establishing the national trade mark for Ngoc Lingginseng.

It is necessary to renew and upgrade the quality of tourist products,accelerate tourism promotion programs and encourage more local people to joinin introducing tourism, aiming to make the province become a crucial tourismdestination in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area.

The PM requested strengthening management in all fields, particularly planning,land, natural resources, environment, exploitation activities of naturalresources as well as actively responding to climate change, natural calamity,floods and protecting the environment.

He also asked to improve the local people’s material and spiritual life, ensuresocial security and sustainably reduce poverty, especially for ethnicminorities. - VNA
