Kon Tum (VNA) – The border guard force of the CentralHighlands province of Kon Tum on June 18 afternoon handed over threetraffickers of crystal meth to the provincial police.
43-year-old Thao Loi, 34-year-old A Nhe and 39-year-old ATuyen, all from Bo Y commune, Ngoc Hoi district, were arrested at Hai Van Hotelin Plei Kan town, Ngoc Hoi district while trafficking 1kg of crystal methearlier the same day.
This is the largest amount of crystal meth seized by theborder guard force in the province.
According to the VietnamNational Committee for Prevention and Control of AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution,there are about 2,300 drug hotspots across the country.
Reports from localities showed that as ofNovember 15, 2017, the number of documented drug addicts was 22,582, up 11,831people from 2016. Between 2017 and March 2018, 13 ha of opium poppy plantationwere discovered and destroyed.
In 2017, police investigated 22,346 drug cases,arrested 34,494 suspects, and seized 906.7 kg of heroin and 979.487 syntheticdrug pills, among other drugs.-VNA
