Kien Giang (VNA) – Export revenue of the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang is estimated to reach 731 million USD in 2021, a rise of 7.17 percent year on year.

According to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, rice contributed over 243 million USD to the figure while aquatic products made up 251.5 million USD, and leather and footwear, 116.8 million USD.

The department said that although the figure is lower than the province's yearly target due to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, this is a relatively good result which is higher than the figure in 2020.

Major markets of the province include European countries, the US, China, Japan, and Southeast Asian nations.

In order to ease difficulties facing local businesses due to prolonged social distancing measures to prevent COVID-19, the province has applied various solutions to support them, including vaccinating local workers against COVID-19 and implementing supporting packages of the Government, stabilising marterial sources, and increasing trade promotions to seek new matkets./.
