Hanoi (VNA) – The Foreign Ministers of Vietnam andMalaysia on March 30 issue a joint press communique on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the twocountries.

The following is the full text of the joint press communique.

“50 years ago today, Malaysia and Viet Nam established diplomaticrelations. This momentous occasion marks the beginning of a decades longjourney that charted robust and multifaceted ties premised on closepeople-to-people contacts.

Notwithstanding the challenges faced during the years of relationshipbuilding, Malaysia and Viet Nam continue to focus on the opportunities to bringbilateral and regional relations closer together. The shared focus of interestshas contributed to the ASEAN Community that has been a primary driving force inthe larger regional architecture.

As we celebrate this auspicious occasion, we further reaffirm ourcommitment to deepening political and economic cooperation.
Towards this end,we remain committed to implement the Plan of Action 2021-2025 under the StrategicPartnership between Malaysia and Viet Nam. We shall also strive to promote andconduct regular high-level engagements, and strengthen bilateral cooperationmechanisms. In line with this commitment, we look forward to exchange of highlevel visits this year, as well as the convening of the Joint Commission forEconomic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation (JCM) and the Joint TradeCommittee (JTC). We will keep on the continued cooperation at multilateral forain response to global challenges.

We greatly value the flourishing people-to-people engagements betweenthe peoples of Malaysia and Viet Nam and are firmly convinced of the mutualbenefits that these engagements bring. We will continue to strive for thestrengthening and deepening of these relations.

As we look forward, we remain assured in our mutual commitment to thestrengthening of our Strategic Partnership and will continue to strive towardspeace and prosperity in our region and indeed throughout the world."/.
