Jazz concert greeting Vietnam-Japan friendship year

The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, in cooperation with Consulate-General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, will present a jazz concert by “unit asia” featuring guest vocal Tung Duong, on July 12 in Hanoi and July 14 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The performances are in celebration of 40th Year of ASEAN – JapanFriendship and Cooperation as well as the Japan – Vietnam FriendshipYear 2013.

“U nit asia” is a hybrid jazz bandwhich consists of five outstanding musicians from Asian countries(Japan, Thailand and Malaysia) to aim for “creating a new type of jazzmusic”.

Since their debut in 2008, “unit asia” hasheld the performance tours successfully. In 2010, Middle East (in Cairoand Ankara) & India (in Chennai and Kolkata) tour. In 2011, Japantour. In February of 2012, their 2nd Southeast Asia tour in Bangkok,Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Kuala Lumpur and Manila. And in 2013, their 1stEurope tour in Madrid, Barcelona, Rome and Cologne, received anenthusiastic sensation in each country.

They havereleased two outstanding albums. “UNIT ASIA Debut! from Southeast AsiaTour 2008” (2009) and “Smile for You” (2010) is the latest.

Their first-time tour in Vietnam in February 2012 received enthusiasticapplauses and thanks to Tung Duong , it became one of the legendaryconcerts in the history of jazz scene in Vietnam.

Thisyear, the band comes back to Vietnam again and re-invites Tung Duongas a guest vocal for further musical collaboration.

The music style of “unit asia” is based around jazz, but they havemanaged to incorporate diverse musical elements such as rock, pops,blues and so forth into their music, enabling them to create their ownoriginal sound that exceeded the framework of nation, culture andmusical genre.

Singer of the Year 2011 and DedicationAward for Song of the Year 2012 (“Chiec Khan Pieu”), Tung Duong is aperfect choice for “ unit asia ”. His emotional and strong voice willskillfully interplay with sounds of “ unit asia ” and will enrich itsmusical diversity as a whole.-VNA

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
