Japanese-standard dairy products to enter Vietnamese market

HCM City (VNA) – Vietnam Nutrition Food JSC (NutiFood) and Japanesebeverage group Asahi, the owner of baby food brand Wakodo, on January 10announced the establishment of their joint venture, aiming to bring nutritionalproducts for children that fit Japanese standards into Vietnamese market.

The joint venture, called Asahi-NutiFood, is set up to take advantage of eachside’s strengths, with NutiFood having long-term business experience, extensivedistribution channels and deep understanding of Vietnamese children’snutrition, and Asahi holding expertise in production of high-quality powderedmilk and baby food.

In the initial phase, the nutrition products, made under the advice of NutiFoodexperts to suit Vietnamese children, will be directly imported from theJapan-based factories of Asahi.

According to Shoyama Katsuo, President of Asahi Group, WAKODO is one of thebrands that have brought tidy profit to the group, and it is now the leadingbrand in Japan.

As Vietnam is a potential market, Asahi decided to choose NutiFood as itpartner to conquer Vietnamese consumers, he said.

Meanwhile, Tran Thi Le, General Director of the joint venture, underlined thatthe firm will support healthy growth and development of Vietnamese infants andchildren, and it pledged to provide the best nutritional value and helpVietnamese mothers with Japanese healthcare and educational knowledge.

Earlier, NutiFood received a certificate from the US Food and DrugAdministration and was able to export a special nutritional supplement for childrento eat better to the US. Besides, it has cooperated with Swedish-basedBackahill Company and BASF group to apply international standards in producingdairy products for children.-VNA
