Japan, Singapore media publish Vietnam President’s article on APEC 2017

The Japan Times and Theindependent.sg of Singapore have run an article entitled "APEC Vietnam 2017 - Fostering a shared future in a changing world" written by Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Japan Times andTheindependent.sg of Singapore have run an article entitled "APEC Vietnam2017 - Fostering a shared future in a changing world" written byVietnamese President Tran Dai Quang on the occasion of the APEC EconomicLeaders’ Week.

According to the article, APEC has been growing vigorously,living up to the role as the region’s premier economic forum. It is facing bothnew opportunities and challenges in a globalised and changing world and adynamic Asia – Pacific.

“As the host of APEC 2017, it is Vietnam's mandate to workwith other member economies to transform the APEC Economic Leaders’ commitmentsinto tangible results and bring APEC closer to the people and businesscommunity, thereby realizing the strategic vision for an Asia - Pacific ofsustainable and inclusive development in the 21st century,” the article wrote.

In his article, President Quang wrote that the APEC EconomicLeaders’ Meeting has an important mission in creating new dynamism for APECcooperation, integration and growth, and is an opportunity for APEC membereconomies to further deepen and elevate their cooperation toward building anAsia - Pacific partnership of sustainable and inclusive development in the 21stcentury.

The Vietnamese leader stressed that Vietnam has always madeactive and responsible contributions to the work of APEC over the past 20 yearsas it is aware of the importance of the close relations between the two sides.

“Entering the phase of comprehensive reforms, by hostingAPEC 2017, Vietnam wishes to reaffirm its foreign policy of diversification,multilateralisation of international relations and intensive internationalintegration; being a reliable friend and partner of the internationalcommunity”.

“We will continue to work with other APEC member economiesin building a peaceful, stable, dynamic, interconnected and prosperous Asia -Pacific community,” Quang affirmed in his article.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
