Hanoi (VNA) – Japanese Prime Minister’s spouse Akie Abe visited disabled childrenwho are receiving treatment at Hanoi Rehabilitation Hospital on January 16.

Sheexpressed her pleasure that Japanese Saori hand weaving therapy has beenpopularised in Vietnamto treat handicapped children.

Japan is interested in supportingdisabled and needy children, she said, adding that the Japanese governmentwants to assist Vietnamin developing more programmes.

Directorof the hospital Pham Van Minh said the 156-member staff has treated more than4,000 disabled children with various therapies.

Japanesedelegations visit the hospital regularly and provide equipment and Saoritraining, he noted.

Thesame day, Ms. Abe met with outstanding Vietnamese youngsters who used to attendthe Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme – which was initiated by Japan in 1974.
