Japan, Malaysia agree to cooperate in DPRK issue

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his Malaysian counterpart Mahathir Mohamad have agreed to cooperate in addressing the DPRK's nuclear and missile development as well as the abduction of Japanese citizens.

Hanoi (VNA) – Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his Malaysiancounterpart Mahathir Mohamad have agreed to cooperate in addressing theDemocratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s nuclear and missile developmentas well as the abduction of Japanese citizens.

Addressing a joint press conference after their meeting on June 12, PM Abeaffirmed to closely cooperate with the Malaysian leader to send out a powerfulmessage to the DPRK.

The statement was made in the context that US President Donald Trump and DPRKleader Kim Jong-un had a summit in Singapore.

In an attempt to boost bilateral cooperation, PM Abe said Japan will upgradeMalaysia's "Look East Policy" to promote education exchange, humanresource development and the transfer of science technologies.
