The sum will beallocated to construction on the Ben Luc – Long Thanh section of thenorth-south expressway, the Thai Binh 1 thermo-power plant and its powertransmission line, a credit project for power networks, the secondstage of the Nhon Trach water supply project, water drainage andtreatment in Ha Long city, upgrades to Can Tho university, and the fifthcycle of a climate change response programme.
Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh and JapaneseAmbassador to Vietnam Hiroshi Fukada signed a diplomatic note to thiseffect in Hanoi on March 31.
Speaking at thesigning ceremony, Vinh said Japan is the leading economic partner andODA provider of Vietnam and pledged to use the sum effectively.
Fukuda said relevant agencies are reviewing a list of projects in need of ODA for the next fiscal year.
Since 1992, the Japanese government has provided nearly 2.5 trillion JPY (20.9 billion USD) worth of ODA for Vietnam.-VNA
