Da Nang (VNA) – The Japan Coast Guard shipECHIGO docked at Tien Sa port on June 13 for a seven-day visit to Da Nang city.
This is the fourth time a ship of the Japan Coast Guard has visited the centralcity. The 105.4-metre-long, 14.6-metre-wide shipECHIGO is captained by Colonel Toyota Chikara.
The ship’s crew of 85 officers and sailors arescheduled to pay courtesy visits to the High Command of the Vietnam CoastGuard, and the municipal People’s Committee.
They will also visit the Maritime Search andRescue Coordination Centre Region II and several landscapes in Da Nang, Hoi An,and Hue.
During their seven-day stay, the Japanese coastguard force will join a drill at sea with the Vietnamese coast guard force.
The visit of ship ECHIGO continues affirming thefruitful cooperation between the two nations’ coast guard forces to ensure maritimesecurity and safety in the region.
It also provides a good opportunity for the twoforces to exchange experience in law enforcement at sea and strengthen theircooperation and mutual understanding.
Both the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Japan CoastGuard are members of the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy andArmed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP), and the Heads of Asian CoastGuard Agencies Meeting (HACGAM).-VNA
