Ivory shipment through Cat Lai port investigated

HCM City (VNA) – The Sai Gon Habour Gate’s Zone 1 Customs Branch, under Ho ChiMinh City’s Customs Department, has launched an official investigation into theshipment of 1.3 tonnes of ivory.

This isthe sixth ivory shipment being transported through District 2’s Cat Lai HabourGate from the beginning of 2017 pending investigation.

OnSeptember 6, The Sai Gon Habour Gate’s Zone 1 Customs Branch collaborated withthe Ministry of Public Security and HCM City Police to inspect two suspiciouscontainers.

Afterexamining 100 barrels of asphalt, the functional forces found 1.3 tonnes ofivory covered with sawdust and plaster.

Thecontainers of the Empire – Group Company Limited in Phu Nhuan districttransited in Vietnam on the way to Cambodia.-VNA
