Italians offered insight into Vietnam's history

Italians who love Vietnam have a good chance to study the country’s contemporary history via 5,000 books on display at a library in Allerona city, central Italy.
Italians who love Vietnam have a good chance to study the country’scontemporary history via 5,000 books on display at a library in Alleronacity, central Italy.

The books were written,translated and collected by Pino Tagliazucchi, one of the leadingItalian researchers on Vietnam , and his daughter Nora.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony on February 22, Ambassador NguyenHoang Long noted that Pino, a great friend of the Vietnamese people,wrote and translated many books about Vietnam ’s history, literatureand folk culture.

Highlighting Pino’sactive role as a member of the Italy -Vietnam Friendship Association,Long expressed his belief that the library will help further thecooperation between Vietnam and Italy as well as Allerona city inparticular.

Nora Tagliazzucchi, PinoTagliazzucchi’s daughter, said his father spent all of his lifestudying different countries, but he had a special place in his heartfor Vietnam .

When he passed away, he left ahuge number of books relating to Vietnam. His first book was aboutDien Bien Phu and two others about President Ho Chi Minh and General VoNguyen Giap. All received high recognitions from the public.

She revealed that she herself has also collected documents for manyyears to establish this library. “It is not only to fulfill my father’swish, but is also what I have to do for the future generation” she said.

More than 5,000 books – all in good condition –written and collected by Pino Tagliazucchis during his whole life arenow valuable public property.

According toValentino Rocchigiani, Mayor of Allerona city, the library will be asignificant place for people in Allerona and Vietnam to exchangeculture and knowledge.

He said that the city willcreate every possible condition for the library’s display, which willhelp promote Vietnamese culture in the city and foster cooperationbetween the two nations.-VNA
