HCM City (VNA) - A wide rangeof machinery and business solutions for textile and garment manufacturingchains are on display at the 17th Vietnam International Textile & GarmentIndustry Exhibition (VTG 2017), which opened on November 22 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Held simultaneously with the VietnamInternational Textile and Apparel Accessories Exhibition, the two expos feature450 booths set up by 400 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions, includingAustralia, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, the Republic of Korea,Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkeyand Vietnam.
Covering 12,000sq.m at the SaigonExhibition and Convention Centre until November 25, the event features completevalue chains for the textile and garment sector, including textile and apparelprocessing machines, sewing machines, digital printing machines and fabricdyeing machines, as well as accessories, fibers, filaments, yarn and fabrics.
A number of seminars will be held on thesidelines of the expos to share advice on a several issues, including Vietnam’spreparation for free trade agreements, the garment industry’s ability to handlefast fashion, and sourcing in the “Age of Trump”.

There will also be presentations on anoverview of the industry, from fiber to textile, in Vietnam and the impact ofChina’s One Belt One Road initiative on Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry.
The events were organised by the VietnamNational Trade Fair & Advertising Joint Stock Company (VINEXAD) and YorkersTrade & Marketing Service Co. Ltd, and co-organized by Guangdong SewingEquipment Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong Apparel Machinery Association, andPaper Communication Exhibition Services.
Garments and textiles are one of thecountry’s main export items.
According to the General Department ofVietnam Customs, Vietnam earned 21.43 billion USD from garment and textileexports in the first 10 months of the year, a year-on-year increase of 9 percent,with exports to the US, Japan and the RoK enjoying good growth.
Exports are expected to reach 31 billion USDfor the entire year, up 10 percent over last year.-VNA
