Speakingat a press conference in Hanoi on July 29, Deputy Minister Nguyen VinhHien congratulated the students on their achievements, adding that thegood performance contributes to the country’s success at internationalOlympiads this year.
The medallists should continue workingharder to conquer pinnacle of science and become scientists in thefuture, contributing to national construction and development, Hiensaid.
At this year’s IChO, Vietnamese students won two golds andtwo silvers. Two golds went to Pham Ngan Giang and Pham Mai Phuong bothfrom Hanoi-Amsterdam High School. Phuong is among the top threeperformers at the event together with a student from Singapore andanother from Ukraine.
Doan Quoc Hoai Nam from Hue national highschool in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue and Do Viet Hung fromTran Phu gifted high school in the northern city of Hai Phong broughthome silvers.
The competition, co-hosted by the University ofNatural Sciences and the Hanoi National University of Education saw theparticipation of 291 students from 77 countries and territoriesworldwide.
It selected winners of 28 golds, 63 silvers, 92 bronzes and 10 consolation prizes.-VNA
