International happiness day celebrated nationwide

Nationwide celebration of the International Day of Happiness (March 20) will run throughout this month, with a number of activities concentrated around March 16-23.

Heart-warming occasions,such as mass wedding days for young couples and events honouring notablelong and happy marriages, will be organised to spread cheer and create apositive public atmosphere. A series of exhibitions, musical concerts,workshops and competitions will also be taking place.

The domestic celebration, themed “love and share”, is also anopportunity for the Government to promote policies and initiatives toadvance local living standards as well as to encourage law-abidingbehaviour and community spirit.

Established by the UN General Assembly in June 2012, the International Day of Happiness is celebrated across the globe.

In Vietnam, the Prime Minister has issued Decision 2589/QD-TTg tomark the day annually throughout the nation. The Southeast Asian countrypledged to support the UN day through its efforts to build a moresustainable and equitable society.-VNA

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
