International expos open to boost trade in industrial products

HCM City (VNA) – Two international exhibitions,the Vietnam Expo and the Vietnam Hardware and Hand Tools Expo, simultaneouslyopened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City onDecember 5.

Vietnam Expo 2018, the 16th of its kind held inHCM City, saw the presence of 750 businesses from 20 countries and territories,introducing electronic and electrical products, industrial machines and spareparts, interior and exterior decorations, along with financial, telecom ande-commerce services, among others.

The expo has chosen Belarus as the event’s countryof honour, with nearly 60 Belarusian firms having brought their products to theexpo. These are in fields Belarus holds strength in, including farming machines,chemicals and petrochemical products, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages.

The Vietnam Expo 2018 is viewed as one of the leadingevents in attracting businesses of diverse industries. It has establisheditself as a prestigious trade fair for domestic and foreign enterprises tointroduce new products and develop their business network.

The number of participating companies hasincreased by 30 percent with each year’s expo. Thirty-six percent of visitorsto the event are foreigners. 

Meanwhile, about 300 businesses haveparticipated in the Vietnam Hardware and Hand Tools Expo 2018, up 40 percentfrom last year. They come from 18 countries and territories such as India,Japan, China, Germany, Italy, and Denmark.

Phan The Anh, Deputy Director of the Agency forSouthern Affairs at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that with its positiveeconomic outlook, Vietnam is becoming increasingly attractive to foreigninvestors, which will generate numerous development opportunities in manysectors. At the same time, supporting industries connect almost all productionchains, and they currently benefit from many favourable policies in thecountry.

Therefore, the two exhibitions, scheduled to lastthrough until December 8, will be effective trade promotion channels for bothVietnamese and foreign businesses, he added.–VNA
