The Secretariat of the Party Central Committee has ordered the Government Inspectorate to speed up the inspection over the purchase of 95 percent of shares at the AVG Audiovisual JSC by MobiFone.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Secretariat of the Party Central Committee hasordered the Government Inspectorate to speed up the inspection over thepurchase of 95 percent of shares at the AVG Audiovisual JSC by the MobiFoneTelecommunications Corporation.

TheSecretariat was briefed on the inspection’s results during its recent meetingchaired by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Itsaid that this deal is a very serious, complicated and sensitive case which hascaught special public attention.

TheGovernment Inspectorate thoroughly inspected the case and reported the results tothe Secretariat.

TheSecretariat asked the standing board and inspectorate of the Government to soonannounce the inspection results in conformity with law.

Relevantagencies were required to quickly tackle the case in an objective manner in accordancewith the Party’s regulations and the State’s law to ensure punishment goes toright individuals and lost State assets are revoked.

MobiFone,the second largest mobile network operator in Vietnam, reached revenues of over44 trillion VND (1.92 billion USD) in 2017.

AVG,owner of An Vien pay TV, had 8 channels and more than 700,000 subscribersbefore the deal was made.-VNA
