Infant with rare heart condition saved

The Hue Central Hospital in central Thua Thien Hue province has saved the life of a three-month-old girl suffering from a rare heart condition, after she was hospitalised on February 14.

The baby,weighing only 3kg, was transferred from a health centre in neighbouringQuang Tri province's mountainous Dakrong district.

The baby washospitalised after she had difficulty in breathing and was vomitingfrequently, and her body became darker in colour.

Doctors at thehospital diagnosed that she had a rare heart condition that requiredurgent surgery to place the arteries in the right positions.

ByMarch 11, 10 days into intensive care, the girl had recovered and couldbe fed milk, according to the baby's mother Nguyen Thi Than.-VNA
