Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian authorities revealed that its Riau Islands ProvincialGovernment is exploring cooperation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in thetourism sector.
Governor of Riau Islands Ansar Ahmad stated on April 11 that they are starting to introduce thepotential of Riau Islands through the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia.
Ahmad said he and member ofthe Raja Ali Haji Maritime University (UMRAH) Advisory Council and the Riau IslandsDevelopment Acceleration Team had met the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia, Y.M.Abdulla Salem Al-Dhaheri, in Jakarta on April 9.
During the meeting, Ahmad said he hopes UAEinvestors would be interested to invest in Riau, especially in the tourismsector.
Ahmad plans to invite Ambassador Al-Dhaheri to severaltourist sites in the Riau Islands, such as the exclusive tourist destination ofBawah Island in Anambas District.
He is upbeat that during the visit to the Riau Islands,Ambassador Al-Dhaheri will also bring several UAE investors to introduce themto the best tourist spots there.
According to the governor, Indonesia can offer many fields of investment, but for now, the country willfocus on the tourism sector./.
