Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia's externaldebt at the end of July 2018 amounted to 358 billion USD, announced the BankIndonesia (BI).
Of the figure, government and central bank external debtstood at 180.8 billion USD, while private sector external debt was about 177.1billion USD.
The debt-to-gross domestic product (GDP) ratio wasrecorded at about 34 percent.
BI said the country’s foreign debt is under control andthis ratio is better than the average of Indonesia's peer countries. The bankadded that 86.3 percent of the debt was long-term.
It is working with the Indonesian government toconstantly monitor the condition of foreign debt to avoid risks that couldaffect the macro-economy’s stability.-VNA
