Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesian Ambassadorto Vietnam Ibnu Hadi and Rector of the University of Social Sciences andHumanities (USSH) of the Vietnam National University-Hanoi Pham Quang Minh onFebruary 15 signed a Memorandum of Understanding on teaching the Indonesianlanguage at the USSH.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Hanoi, theIndonesian diplomat recognised the USSH’s efforts in popularising his country’slanguage in Vietnam and hoped it could be continuously taught at theuniversity.
He encouraged students joining Indonesianclasses to study more about the country through Darmasiswa scholarship of theIndonesian government.
Two best students will be invited to learn inIndonesia, he said.
Minh said the teaching of the Indonesianlanguage, the number of the users of which is the fourth largest in the worldand the largest in ASEAN, is part of the school’s missions to contribute toincreasing the role of Vietnam in the bloc.
The USSH is the first university in Hanoi tobring this language into the curriculum.
An Indonesian language course will be started onFebruary 18 with the assistance of Indonesian teachers from the centre forforeign language development strategy of Indonesia’s Ministry of Education andCulture.
Students will learn four lessons per week.
This activity aims to further strengthen thestrategic partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia.-VNA
