The Antara news agency cited Moelkodo as saying that the Indonesianarmy needs to be more active and develop in line with a strategicenvironment and threats it has to face in the future.
He suggested designing plans to reshuffle and strengthen the control over the armed forces with an appropriate budget.
According to him, the national defence budget would be raised to 200billion rupiah (15.2 billion USD) in 2017 from the current 102 billionrupiah (7.7 billion USD). The goal was set along with an expectedeconomic growth of 7 percent.
More attentionwill be paid to raising the military’s strength and efficiency in smartweapon equipment and territorial security safeguarding, particularly atborder areas.
