Indonesia to extend visa exemption to 25 countries

The Indonesian government will extend visa exemption to 25 countries, including China, the Republic of Korea, Russia and Japan, according to Indonesian Tourism Minister Arief Yahya.

Themove is made to boost the country’s tourism industry, which aims toattract 10 million international visitors this year.

Last year, the archipelago nation welcomed 9.4 million tourists in 2014, up 7.2 percent from 2013.

Indonesia currently exempts visa for citizens from all member nationsof the Association of Southeast Asian Nations plus Hong Kong, Macau,Chile, Morocco, Peru and Ecuador.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
