Hanoi (VNA) – The Komite Anti Dumping Indonesia (KADI) under theMinistry of Trade on September 25 announced the termination of an anti-dumpinginvestigation on colour-coated steel products imported from Vietnam, accordingto the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam.
Earlier,on June 7, the KADI determined that steel sheet imports from Vietnam dumpedinto Indonesia at between 12.01 percent and 28.49 percent of the Indonesianmarket and caused significant injury to the domestic steel industry.
Basedon this conclusion, the Indonesian Trade Security Committee (KPPI) proposed theapplication of anti-dumping measures on Vietnamese colour-coated steel productsfor a five-year period.
KADI initiated the dumping investigation on December 23, 2016. Thecolour-coated steel imports that were investigated had the HS codes of7210.70.10.00, 7212.40.10.00 and 7212.40.20.00.
KADI said that from July 2015 to June 2016, Indonesia imported 224,120 tonnesof colour-coated steel, of which 196,191 tonnes came from Vietnam and China,accounting for 87.5 percent of the country’s total steel imports.
On January 9, 2018, KADI announced a statement of essential facts on theanti-dumping investigation and asked relevant sides to give comments on thestatement.
Indonesia held a public hearing on the anti-dumping investigations on January26, 2018.
After considering impacts of anti-dumping measures to the socio-economy, KADIdecided to end investigation and not to apply anti-dumping duties on Vietnamesecolour-coated steel, a representative from the TradeRemedies Authority of Vietnam said.-VNA
