Jakarta (VNA) – SingaporeanMinister of Trade and Industry Iswaran is visiting Indonesia from April 24-26to enhance bilateral economic cooperation and seek more business opportunitiesfor Singaporean firms, especially small and medium ones.
During his stay, Iswaran met with Indonesian Minister for Energy and MineralResources Ignasius Jonan, Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto andNurhajizah, Deputy Governor of North Sumatra.
The two sides affirmed hope to promote sustainable bilateral ties and evaluatedprospects for economic cooperation expansion in energy, tourism,infrastructure, vocational training and digital technology.
The Singaporean official is scheduled tovisit the East Ventures Hive in Jakarta, the co-working space of Indonesia’s start-upcompanies.
Singapore is currently the third largest trade partner and one of the biggestinvestors of Indonesia. Bilateral trade last year hit 56.1 billion SGD (37billion USD).
Besides, the two countries are each other’smajor tourism markets, with about 2.9 million Indonesians coming to Singaporein 2016.
Indonesia and Singapore are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomaticrelations this year.-VNA
