The country’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy saidthe Government considers tourism villages a leading priority in tourismrecovery efforts in the post-pandemic period.
Addressing the recent ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023 in Indonesia’sYogyakarta city, Raden Wisnu Sindhutrisno, Marketing Director of tourismmarketing Asia-Pacific at the ministry, said the development of tourismvillages is one of the top tourism recovery strategies because it has a direct impact on the local community.
Many villages possess unique features in terms of natural landscapesand culture, so they will be magnets for visitors and tourism dollars, he noted.
The ministry will coordinate with other ministries andsectors to provide capacity building training for managers of tourism villages,and increase infrastructure investment to facilitate tourist access to thesevillages, Wisnu added.
On January 30, the Indonesian ministry launched theIndonesian Tourism Village Awards 2023. It aims to raise the number of tourismvillages to 4,000 this year, from 3,419 in 2022./.
