Indonesia officially joins Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

The Indonesian government has officially agreed to join the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
The Indonesian government has officially agreed to join the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

IndonesianMinister of Finance Bambang Brodjonegoro said AIIB will assistIndonesia in promoting economic connectivity, particularly developingmaritime infrastructure.

Indonesia is ready to work with other founding members to get the AIIB begin operating as soon as possible, he added.

Withthe inclusion of Indonesia, AIIB now has 22 member countries andeconomies in Asia, including China, India, Malaysia, the Philippines,Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

With a 50 percent stake, China will be the largest stakeholder and the biggest donor for AIIB.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
