Jakarta (VNA) – The Indonesian Asian Games Organising Committee (INASGOC) onApril 2 held a press briefing on the upcoming the 18th Asian Games (ASIAD 18).

TheASIAD 18 will draw 15,000 athletes and coaches from 45 sport delegationscompeting in 40 sports, 67 disciplines and 463 events. More than 30,000volunteers will support the event, said the organisers.

TheGames will feature 32 Olympic sports in a bid to help athletes prepare for the2020 Tokyo Olympics. Competitions of 38 sports will be broadcast live.

INASGOCDeputy Director of Media and Public Relations Buldansyah said the work onvenues for ASIAD 18 has been completed while transportation for athletes,officials and reporters is almost ready.

The Games will take place in Jakarta and Palembang from August18 to September 2, 2018.

Indonesia hosted the ASIAD in 1962 and the SoutheastAsian Games in 2011.-VNA
