Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry has commended the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the National Police (Polri) for establishing the Directorate of Crimes Against Women and Children and Human Trafficking Crimes.
According to the ministry's secretary Titi Eko Rahayu, the presence of the new investigative unit is expected to facilitate police officers to take swift actions in cases of violence involving women and children and prioritise the interests and well-being of the victims.
She hoped that the officers assigned to such cases are those genuinely caring for women's and children's interests.
Earlier, Polri Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo officially appointed Brigadier General Desy Andriani as the first director of the special directorate. Andriani earlier served as chief police psychologist of the Polri Chief's Staff for Human Resources./.
