Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian andAustralian senior officials have agreed to promote stability in the Indian Oceanand the Pacific during their bilateral meeting on the sideline of theASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Sydney from March 17-18.
At the event, the officials applauded a maritime cooperation action plansigned between the two nations. They also debated their collaborationin term of digital technology
They hoped this plan and a discussion oncommunication and consultation related to the term “Indian Ocean – Pacific”will be implemented soon, thus creating stability in the region.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said the two sides also further discussedthe Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
Negotiations between trade ministers of the two countries will be organisesd inApril, towards reaching consensus on the agreement by the end of 2018, shenoted.
Indonesia and Australia agreed on the win-win cooperation principle inimplementing the CEPA, affirming that the deal is not only a trade project butalso a cooperation project between the two nations.
Foreign and defence ministers of the two countries also met for the Fifth 2 2 Meeting on March 16 in Sydney.-VNA
