Jakarta(VNA) – Indonesiais one of the main destinations for Chinese companies to invest, with about1,000 Chinese firms operating in the Southeast Asian country, 50 percent ofwhich are investing in Java, said President of the Chinese Chamber of Commercein Indonesia Gong Bencai.
GongBencai noted that Chinese companies in Indonesia have been increasing thenumber of local workers, transferring technology and expertise, investing in value-addedindustries, and enhancing cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Chinesecompanies will also try to meet the domestic needs of Indonesia, such as in thefields of infrastructures, electricity generation, as well as water and foodsupply, he said.
Meanwhile,Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun stated that althoughrelations between Indonesia and China are enhancing rapidly, there is still largeroom for improvement.
Earlier,Maritime Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan had invited investorsfrom China to increase their investment in Indonesia.
Heemphasized that Indonesia is a huge potential market, and the government atthis time focuses on infrastructure development.
Theminister showcased a variety of development programmes, including village fundprogrammes and special economic zones development.-VNA
