New Delhi (VNA) – Indian Prime MinisterNarendra Modi on September 5 began his two-day visit to Myanmar with an aim of intensifying bilateral ties in the fields of security andcounter-terrorism, ANI News reported.

Issues involved in trade, investment, infrastructure, skilldevelopment, energy and culture are also discussed during his meetings withMyanmar leaders, the Prime Minister said.

This is Modi's first bilateral visit to India’s eastern borderingcountry. Earlier, in 2014 he was Myanmar in 2014 for the ASEAN Summit.

He is scheduled to meet Myanmar President Htin Kyaw, and StateCounsellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Aung San Suu Kyi.

The leaders will review the development of India-Myanmarbilateral relations and explore new areas, in which both the nations can worktogether.

They will also review the extensive programme of developmentcooperation and socio-economic assistance that India is undertaking in Myanmar.-VNA
