New Delhi (VNA) – India is willing to provide all help for Myanmar, visiting Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj told Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw and State Counsellor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi during their meetings in Nay Pyi Daw on August 22.
India is committed to strengthening Myanmar’s democratic institutions and socio-economic development, Minister Swaraj said during her talks with Suu Kyi.
This is the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee to the government and people of Myanmar, she added.
At their talks, the two sides also discussed issues relating to bilateral cooperation in education, health care and trade.
The day-long visit was to reaffirm India’s commitments to heightened partnership with Myanmar in areas accorded priority by the new government of Myanmar, according to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs’ spokesperson Vikas Swarup.
This was the first high-level trip by India to Myanmar since the new government led by the National League for Democracy (NLD) assumed power in the Southeast Asian nation earlier this year.-VNA
