Hung Yen (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has urged the northern province of Hung Yen to do more to boost agricultural and rural development, and raise people’s living standards during his recent visit to the locality.

Located in the centre of the northern region, Hung Yen boasts an old-age culture and long-standing history, the advantages that could aid its efforts to grow comprehensively, he said.

Hung Yen should focus on planning and mobilising resources to spur agricultural and rural development and improve the living conditions, he noted.

The official asked Hung Yen to pay attention to the production and branding of its signature farm products like longan and litchi, thus raising incomes for farmers and boosting the new-style rural area building.

Hung Yen was also advised to continue optimising its agricultural strengths as numerous export opportunities are expected to come from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement and other major trade agreements signed by Vietnam.

At the same time, the locality should focus on improving the farm produce processing and establishing high-tech industrial parks in a bid to create highly competitive products, Deputy PM Phuc said.

Hung Yen should also create favourable conditions for tourism development since it is home to many famous relic sites like the Pho Hien (Hien Street) relic complex, he said.

Congratulating the locality on its successful 18th Party Congress for the 2015-2020 tenure, the official wished that Hung Yen will promote solidarity and take more effective measures to develop.

The Deputy PM suggested the locality pay more attention to handling unsettled complaints and combat crimes, ensuring national security as well as social order.

At the working session on November 14, Do Tien Sy, Secretary of the provincial Party’s Committee said in the next five years, the provincial will focus on three breakthroughs, including investment attraction, infrastructure development and personnel work.-VNA
