Hanoi (VNA) – The Association in Support ofDisabled People and Orphan Children said it has assisted more than 6 million peoplein the past five years.
Theinformation was announced at a press conference on the threshold of theassociation’s fifth national congress, which will convene on April 14.
Thecongress will review activities of the association in the past five years andset tasks for the upcoming five-year tenure.
As part ofthe event, an exchange programme, themed “One Heart-One World”, will take placeto draw attention to the care of disadvantaged people.
Vietnam ismaking efforts to ensure the rights of the disabled, who account for 7.8percent of the country’s population.
The group hasbeen tackling challenges in exercising their right to work, including access toemployment opportunities and discrimination in the workplace.-VNA
