ThuaThien-Hue (VNA) – The 7th Hue Trade Village Festival 2017 kickedoff on April 28 in Hue city of central Thua Thien-Hue province, drawing 327artisans from 40 craft villages and establishments across the country.
Alongwith famous craft villages nationwide such as Nam Cao weaving village in ThaiBinh province and My Thien pottery village in Quang Ngai province, the eventalso saw the participation of 34 foreign artisans from Japan, the Republic ofKorea, and China.
Inhis opening speech, Chairman of the Thua Thien-Hue People’s Committee NguyenVan Thanh said the festival aims to honour the quintessence values oftraditional crafts, while fostering connections between businesses and investors,fostering socio-economic development and incorporating handicrafts with tourismas well as domestic and foreign markets.
Runninguntil May 2, the festival will have various programmes, including a space forhonouring artisans and craft villages, a garment fashion show, an “Ao dai” (traditionallong dress) show, and a ceremony to pay tribute to ancestors of traditionalcrafts.
Anumber of public activities will also be held such as a food festivalintroducing specialties of Hue and other localities nationwide.-VNA
